Blend In With Ceramic Braces
Clear braces can be a great alternative to traditional braces at Calera Orthodontics. These braces use tooth-colored ceramic brackets to blend in with your natural smile and give you an extra boost of confidence during treatment.
Giving You a Clear Alternative to Metal
Dr. Reid uses ceramic braces—also known as clear braces, tooth-colored braces, or aesthetic braces to correct your bite and align your smile the same way as metal braces.
Clear braces with Dr. Reid are less noticeable on your teeth than metal braces, so they help you get a great smile with less visibility. Many older teenagers and adult patients at Calera Orthodontics choose this more discreet option to blend in well with their natural smiles.
Though they're not entirely invisible, the brackets are about the same size and shape as metal braces and made of nearly invisible tooth-colored polycrystalline ceramic material at our office in Calera.
Differences Between Ceramic &
Metal Braces
People all around Calera know metal braces for their strength and durability. Ceramic braces are also tough, but the material is slightly more fragile, so they can be more likely to chip or crack.
Traditional braces are also better at tolerating pressure than newer ceramic ones. If you need more drastic corrections, Dr. Reid may recommend metal braces. Adjustments with ceramic braces must be slightly smaller, so it can take a little longer to align your teeth.
Having said that, both braces work on the same principles and are equally effective in most cases.
You may be worried about ceramic braces staining, but that hasn't been a problem for several years. Ceramic brackets won't stain; however, the adhesive used to attach the brackets to the teeth and the clear elastic ties used to hold the wires in place can stain.
This can give an overall impression of discoloration or staining over time. You can avoid things like coffee and tea, red wine, tomatoes, mustard, etc., to reduce the chance of staining, but this isn't necessary since Dr. Reid will change your elastics at every appointment.
If you maintain a good oral hygiene routine and follow the treatment plan Dr. Reid designs for you, you won't have to sacrifice your morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine.
Cost of Ceramic Braces
Your treatment fee at Calera Orthodontics will vary depending on the complexity of your treatment plan. Dr. Reid will determine a treatment fee that fits your specific orthodontic needs, and we'll do everything we can to accommodate your budget.
The good news is that our Calera office offers flexible payment plans and accepts insurance. Our team will check with your Alabama insurance company for orthodontic benefits to help you get the most out of your experience.
At our office in Calera, ceramic brackets cost a little more than metal brackets. One of the most significant factors impacting your total treatment cost at Calera Orthodontics is the materials we use for your braces.
We need to factor in the work it takes to put your braces on, adjust them, and remove them into your total treatment cost. Placing and removing ceramic braces demands more attention and technique from Dr. Reid, which requires more time.
Our treatment coordinators will discuss the total cost of your treatment with you at your first free consultation at our Calera office.
Best for Adults
After a thorough orthodontic evaluation with Dr. Reid, we can determine which treatment option will best suit you and your smile.
At Calera Orthodontics, we believe ceramic braces suit adults and older teens better than children and younger teens. This is because ceramic brackets are more likely to break and are more expensive than metal brackets.
